Czech Catholic Magazines for Children and Youth in 1945-1948

The purpose of this thesis is to cover the topic of the Czech catholic children's magazines within the period of 1945 - 1948. Firstly the thesis contextualizes the historical background in the terms of looking back to the period of the occupation and then turns to the consequences that the occupation brought to the catholic population. Further the thesis offers an insight to the situation after 1945 mainly from the catholic point of view and focuses on the catholic press within the given period. In the next section the thesis characterizes the trends of the children's and juvenile literature in the period of 1945 - 48 through literary pieces, which form an integral part of the analyzed magazines. This part also deals with the general overview of the Czech children's and juvenile periodicals output within the given period. The main part of the thesis then characterizes and analyzes two chosen periodicals: Anděl strážný (The Guardian Angel) a magazine for catholic children and Dorost (The Juvenils) a magazine for catholic juvenils. This part of the thesis analyses the contents, structures and partly also the visual appearances of the chosen periodicals and tracks any changes of these aspects in single volumes. Marginally the thesis also mentions the editors and authors of the texts and illustrations....

This bachelor's thesis deals with the genre of fairy tale in Czech children's magazines (namely Mateřídouška, Ohníček and Sluníčko) in the years between 1948 and 1989. The primary focus is on original Czech fairy tales in prose, while translated fairy tales, those written by the readers, excerpts from book publications, illustrated and rhymed fairy tales, and lastly, written fairy tales with enclosed puppets for children to craft are marginally commented on at the end of the paper. In the genre analysis, the thesis touches upon the types of narrator and upon the reader as created by the story itself or as addressed by the narrator, it also lists different types of reception, and comments on a potential categorization of characters. Afterwards, the thesis pays attention to a number of features taken over from traditional fairy tales. At the end, the focus is on how the opportunities provided by the medium of magazine are used, that is, serialized fairy tales, different stories about specific characters recurring in several issues in a row, and also the incorporation and influence of some features of then contemporary context.

Environmental issues on the pages of magazines for children and youth

Diploma thesis deals with the environmental issue on the pages of magazines for children and youth. In the theoretical part I focus on the cross-cutting theme of environmental education based on the Framework of Educational Programme that aimes at helping young people to build socially desirable behavior and values necessary for their future life. The practical part presents the content analysis of the specified titles in order to analyse the occurence of the issue. An important part of the thesis is the incorporation of the magazines into the environmental education and elaborating teaching units and their implementation into the educational process on the 2nd level of primary school.
